System (SCERS) is a defined benefit retirement system dedicated
to ensuring Sacramento’s public servants have access to financial
security and an opportunity to achieve their retirement goals.
Offering a wide range of programs, degrees, certificates and
courses, Sierra College supports a diverse community of over
18,000 students. Students choose Sierra because its academic
offerings, quality, convenience, and committed staff make it the
ideal place to supplement high school education, improve job
skills, earn a certificate, pursue a degree, prepare to transfer
to a four-year school, or simply engage in lifelong learning at
an exceptional value.
Recently, we had the opportunity to work with the New York City
Employees Retirement System (NYCERS) on their new
website. Serving more than 350,000 active members and
retirees in New York City, NYCERS is the largest municipal public
employee retirement system in the United States.
Through stakeholder surveys, on-site focus groups, and discovery
conversations with the call center, we carefully sought out
opportunities that would save the NYCERS team valuable time while
better serving members.
We partnered with the Southern Regional Education Board to bring
deep silos of knowledge across 16 states into a unified website
while creating an exceptional user experience, design, and
information architecture that reflected the credibility of the
organization’s information brand.
Along with implementing an easy but powerful CMS, we integrated
with Socrata so SREB could deliver interactive data and reports
while moving away from static PDFs and print.
Today, nontechnical staff can create and edit every aspect of the
The Osher Collaborative for Integrative Medicine, based at
the University of California, San Francisco, comprises an
international group of six academic Centers including UCSF,
Harvard, Karolinska, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and University of
Miami funded by The Bernard Osher Foundation to study, teach, and
practice integrative medicine.
Our redesign of the Graduate School of Management at UC Davis led
to a 170% increase in campus visits and applications from mobile
devices. The Graduate School of Management now has a better
conversion rate on mobile than desktop.
We created individually-branded microsites for various entities,
including the Wine Executive Program at gsm.ucdavis.edu/wine, that can
have their own brand but still live inside the main website.
The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) needed help
organizing an extreme amount of content and data to better sever
its numerous audiences. It also had the complexity of multiple
external websites that needed to be migrated to the new platform.
Using Slick Plan to cooperatively create a new information
architecture and putting heavy emphasis on the content inventory,
migration and governance plan allowed us to design a very
